Gallery of my favorite links
Below you will find a list of my favorite websites for the elementary classroom. Some of these sites are free to use, while others you will need to purchase in order to use.
Raz-Kids: Raz-kids is an excellent reading website. It provides an online leveled library for students in K-6 grade. This allows students to be reading "just right books" a part of a balanced approach to literacy. They can take comprehension quizzes and even record their voices to practice fluency. You do need to purchase a membership for this site but you can have your entire class on the site for just one membership fee. Students can access this reading resource from home or school.

Reading a-z: Reading a-z is a sister site of raz-kids. Here, teachers are able to print leveled books for guided reading and strategy groups, essential parts of reading workshop. They also provide decodable books for beginning readers, helping with word study patterns and families. Reading a-z provides lesson plans and practice sheets to accompany books to aid in the five pillars of reading. Like raz-kids, one must purchase reading a-z, however, it will provide countless leveled books for your classroom library that are easy to make!

IXL: IXL is a wonderful math website. It provides math practice and review of a variety of skills for students in K-8 grade. It tracks the progress of students for teachers and parents to see if they have mastery of particular skills. It provides meaningful tracking progress that helps students stay on track and set math goals. You do need to purchase a membership for this site but you can have your entire class on the site for just one membership fee. Students can access this math resource from home or school.

Scholastic: Scholastic has a multitude of teacher, student, and parent resources. In particular I love their interactive news feature. If you have a subscription to scholastic news for your classroom there is an interactive link to go along with each news article. It is a wonderful way to engage students and have them complete activities to go along with reading about current events.

Starfall: Starfall is an excellent and free website for preschool and lower elementary aged students. It provides phonics and reading practice to those very early readers with creative and holiday themed activities.
|
Spelling City: Vocabulary and Spelling City is a place where students of all ages can practice their spelling and vocabulary building skills. They can practice with flash cards, interactive sentences, games, puzzles, etc. They can practice sight words, homophones, nouns, compound words, contractions, etc. The best part...this is a free website!
